Frenemies

Privacy Policy

Last updated 29 October 2026

The short version:

  • You can play without telling us who you are. We keep a name and avatar you pick, and what happens in your games.
  • If you save your account with Google or Apple, we also keep your email address from them.
  • When the app crashes, it sends us a report, with a screenshot, so we can fix it.
  • We don't sell your data, show ads, or track you across other apps and websites.
  • You can delete your account from the app at any time.

This policy covers Frenemies: the game at play.frenemi.es, its Android and iOS apps, and this website, frenemi.es. Frenemies is made and run by Youssef Lasheen ("we", "us"). If you have any question about your data, write to info@frenemi.es.

What we keep, and why

Your account

The first time you open Frenemies, it makes an account for you without asking for anything: a random user ID, which stays signed in on your device. On it we keep:

Saving your account with Google or Apple

If you choose to save your account, so that you can play on another device or keep it after reinstalling, you sign in with Google or Apple. We then keep the ID that Google or Apple gives your account, and the email address they share with us (with Apple, you can choose to hide your real address). We use them only to sign you in, and show your email on your profile so that you can tell which account you are using. We never email you, and we never see your Google or Apple password.

Your games

To run a room, we keep what happens in it while it is open: who is in it, their votes, the words they play, and their scores. When a room closes after at least one round, we keep its history: who played, the games, and each player's points and wins, so that you and the other players can look back at it.

Crash and error reports

When something goes wrong in the app or on our server, a report goes to Sentry, the service we use to find and fix bugs. A report from the app contains:

The screenshot is only ever of Frenemies, never of other apps. Reports are kept for up to 90 days.

Technical data

Like every website, our server and Cloudflare, which delivers it, see your device's IP address and browser to send you the game. Our server also keeps a log of the requests it handles (what was asked, by which user ID, and whether it worked) to keep the game running. We don't use any of it to track or profile you.

On your device

The app keeps your sign-in, the language and appearance you chose, and whether you have seen the introduction on your device. Nothing there is used for advertising or tracking.

What we don't do

Who else handles your data

We share your data only with the services that help us run Frenemies, and only what each needs:

Some of them are outside your country, including in the United States. We may also share data if the law requires it, or to protect players from abuse.

How long we keep it

Deleting your account

If you saved your account, go to your profile in the app, then Delete account. If you didn't, you can delete your account by writing to us with your user ID, which is at the bottom of your profile and is copied when you tap it.

Deleting your account deletes your sign-in, email address, profile and friends straight away. The history of rooms you played in stays, with the name you had, because it belongs to the other players too, but it no longer belongs to any account. Crash reports are deleted within 90 days.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask for a copy of your data, to correct it, to delete it, or to object to how we use it, and to complain to your data protection authority. Write to info@frenemi.es and we'll answer within 30 days.

Where the law asks why we may use your data: we use it to provide the game you asked to play, and to keep it working through crash reports and logs, which is in our legitimate interest and yours.

Children

Frenemies is made for everyone, children included. It asks nobody for their real name, age or contact details, and has no ads, purchases or chat; players see only each other's chosen names, avatars and words. Children should only save their account with Google or Apple with a parent's or guardian's permission. If you are a parent and want us to delete your child's data, write to us and we will.

Keeping it safe

Your data travels encrypted between your device and our server, and only we can get to the server and its database. No system is perfectly secure, but we do our best to protect it, and will tell you if something happens to it.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update it here with a new date. If the change matters for how we use your data, we'll tell you in the app as well.
